Skokie Public Library to Host Accomplished North Shore Pianist Vera Goryunov for Young Steinway Concert Series

SKOKIE, IL — The Young Steinway Concert Series continues its 2025-2026 season next week, showcasing the exceptional talent of pianist Vera Goryunov. The performance will take place on Sunday, January 4, 2026, at 3:00 pm at the Skokie Public Library.

About the Artist:

Vera Goryunov is an accomplished young pianist recognized for her technical precision and emotive performances. Her appearance in the Young Steinway series follows a tradition of featuring performers who often go on to major international careers and prestigious conservatories.

Vera began piano training at age 5 and since then received numerous music recognitions, including the First Prize at the International "Golden Classical Music Award" Competition, Honorable Mention by the Society of American Musicians, Gold and Silver medals in the Sonata-Sonatina Festivals of Music Teachers Associations of Chicago, North Shore and Northwest, and Master Classes with renowned pianist Christopher O'Riley and Steinway artists Susan Merdinger and Dr. Svetlana Belsky. Vera debuted at Carnegie Hall, New York at age 7 and performed her first solo program at age 8. Currently, Vera presents her new repertoire at the Merion Concert Series in Evanston and Plymouth Place in La Grange Park under Dr. Soo Young Lee, a Steinway Hall of Fame Teacher. 

Vera is a student at Daniel Wright Junior High school in Lincolnshire. She is an Illinois State Gold Medalist and a National Bronze Medalist in Science Olympiad for the last two years.

Since 1982, the Young Steinway Concert Series has provided a platform for high-level young classical musicians to perform for the North Shore community. This upcoming recital offers local residents a chance to experience a first-class classical performance by one of the region's rising stars.
