COVID-19 Tests In Skokie Area: Where To Find Locations

SKOKIE, IL — With holiday gatherings and the emerging omicron surge of coronavirus combining to send demand for tests skyrocketing past supplies, an increasing number of North Shore residents have been seeking COVID-19 testing but have found it unavailable or difficult to obtain.

COVID-19 test positivity in suburban Cook County rose to 7.8 percent, as of Monday, according to the Cook County Department of Public Health.

There were nearly 240,000 tests performed in suburban county during the week ending Dec. 18, the most recent data available from the Illinois Department of Public Health.

There were more than 11,400 tests performed in Skokie for the week ending Nov. 21, the most recent data available from the Skokie Health and Human Services Department.

In Skokie, there were an average of 52 new cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 people. That comes out to a weekly rate of 541 cases per 100,000, slightly below the suburban Cook County average of 548 per 100,000 people, according to data from the Skokie Health and Human Services Department and the Cook County Department of Public Health.

Since the start of the pandemic, 180 Skokie residents have died of COVID-19, including five so far this month, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.
