Experienced Corporate Attorney Dana Deane Joins Orchard Village Board of Directors

Deane's appointment strengthens the organization's governance

SKOKIE, Ill. – Orchard Village, a nonprofit organization supporting nearly 300 people with developmental disabilities, announces the appointment of Dana Deane to its Board of Directors.

Deane brings extensive legal knowledge and personal commitment to disability advocacy to the organization as the parent of three adult children, including her oldest child, who is an Orchard Village resident.

An Evanston resident, Deane retired in 2020 as senior labor and employment lawyer at Abbott Laboratories, where she served for 25 years. Her legal career began after graduating from the University of Michigan Law School in 1986, followed by experience at three Chicago-area law firms focused on employer counseling and representation.

Before her legal career, Deane earned her BA in Industrial Administration from the General Motors Institute (now Kettering University) in 1982, where she was a cooperative student-employee of General Motors, working in the Personnel department at GM Truck & Bus in Pontiac, Mich.

Deane currently serves on Orchard Village's Development Committee and has been an engaged visitor to board meetings. Her appointment strengthens the organization's governance as it continues expanding services for individuals with developmental disabilities throughout the Chicagoland area.
