Hammerstein Time! - celebrating 130 years of Oscar Hammerstein Skokie Theatre November 30 7:30pm

Oscar Hammerstein wrote lyrics for 850 songs, winning eight Tony Awards and two Academy Awards for Best Original Song.

Oscar Hammerstein wrote lyrics for 850 songs, winning eight Tony Awards and two Academy Awards for Best Original Song. He collaborated with Jerome Kern, Otto Harbach, Sigmund Romberg, Vincent Youmans, and for 17 years, Richard Rodgers. Hosted by Daryl Nitz, with musical direction by George Howe, and marking the lyricist’s 130th birthday, the concert will feature music from Show Boat, Rose Marie, Oklahoma! , Carousel, South Pacific, The King & I, and The Sound of Music. Performing these timeless classics will be Chicago icon Frieda Lee, as well as Sean Caron, Cindy Firing, Alex Magno, Laura Freeman, Ken Baker and Brianna Murray.

Part of the Daryl Nitz Entertainment series, this concert will take place on Sunday, November 30 at 7:30pm at the Skokie Theatre, 7924 Lincoln Avenue, Downtown Skokie. Tickets are $35 and available online at SkokieTheatre.org or call 847.677.7761.
