Hit-And-Run Driver Sought After Cyclist Killed On Oakton In Skokie
After a 37-year-old bicyclist was struck by two vehicles Tuesday night, one driver stayed, but the other fled the scene.

SKOKIE, IL — A man died after he was struck by two vehicles while riding a bicycle in Skokie, and investigators are looking for a hit-and-run driver involved in the fatal crash, authorities said.
Skokie police and firefighters were dispatched to a traffic crash in the 3500 block of Oakton Street shortly after 10:30 p.m.
The 37-year-old cyclist was rushed to an area hospital to be treatment for his traumatic injuries, but he did not survive, according to police.

Officers determined that one of the two cars involved in the crash was headed east in the center lane of Oakton Street in five-lane stretch between St. Louis and Central Park avenues when it hit the cyclist, causing him to crash.
After the man and bicycle fell to the ground, another vehicle in the eastbound curb lane of Oakton Street struck the bicycle.

"One vehicle and driver remained on scene," Sgt. Brandi Shelton said in a statement, "however, the other vehicle continued eastbound on Oakton Street."
Police said the hit-and-run driver's vehicle was described as dark-colored.
No information was immediately available from the police spokesperson as to whether it was a sedan, SUV, truck, van or a motorcycle.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, which has not yet released his identity, has scheduled an autopsy Wednesday.
Skokie police called in the major crash team of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force to assist with the investigation and asked anyone with information about it to call the SPD non-emergency line.
Last month, 74-year-old Skokie resident Michael Rapp was fatally struck by a pickup truck near the North Branch Trail in Morton Grove, while a 27-year-old man was critically injured after he was struck by a motorist on Gross Point Road.
