SKOKIE, IL — A new mixed-use community will add nearly 300 rental units to a bustling area in Skokie, with move-ins starting this month.

The Henry at Harms Woods, located at 5424 Old Orchard Road, will include 245 apartments, 49 rental townhomes and approximately 13,000 square feet of commercial space. The 11-acre development is right next to Life Time Fitness and Westfield Old Orchard, just west of Interstate 94.

According to Rent Cafe, the Chicago suburbs have the second-most competitive market for prospective renters in the nation. Securing a rental in the suburbs has become "incredibly tough," thanks to factors that attract renters, including "affordability, strong job market, access to public transit and the rise of thriving suburban downtowns."

"With infill space at a premium in Chicago’s mature suburbs, we were very fortunate to be able to find and develop this incredible site,” said Aaron Tucker, president and chief investment officer
at Tucker Development. "The beautiful townhomes, the only built-to-rent luxury townhomes in the area with access to a full suite of multifamily amenities, have already proven very popular, and we anticipate them leasing up quickly.”

The development, designed by HKM Architects + Planners and being built by Nicholas & Associates, will offer studio, one, two and three-bedroom luxury apartment units and three to four bedroom townhomes.

Each townhome features quartz countertops, Bosch appliances, smart thermostats, Moen fixtures, full-size LG washer/dryers, a Google doorbell and a powder room. The four-bedroom Maple and oak plans, which have 3.5 baths and are approximate 2,500 square feet, start at $6,800 per month.

The community will also include courtyards, an outdoor pool, a fully equipped fitness center and various spaces for people who work from home. Ground floor commercial space rounds out the development.
