Giovanni has demonstrated academic excellence and commitment to various extracurricular activities throughout his high school years. He challenged himself by taking several AP courses, including AP World History, AP Psychology, AP US History, AP Statistics, AP English Language and Composition. His passion for history led him to participate in National History Day, where his individual documentary project, "A Terrible Project: How Urban Renewal Destroyed Chicago," advanced to the national competition in Maryland for the senior division individual documentary category.
As co-president of his high school Filipino club and head coordinator for the club's cultural dance group, Kapit Bayan, Giovanni has contributed significantly to promoting cultural diversity within his school community. Under his leadership, Kapit Bayan achieved an unprecedented 1st place in a collegiate-level competition at Battle of the Bamboo hosted by University of Chicago.
Giovanni's dedication to fostering an inclusive and supportive environment is evident through his involvement in PALS, a student-led group focused on providing a welcoming space for students with special needs. His commitment to making a positive impact extends beyond his school community, as demonstrated by his participation in the high school dance marathon, where he helped raise $40,000.
