Orchard Village to Participate in Tootsie Roll Tag Days to Support People with Developmental Disabilities

Skokie, Ill. – Orchard Village, a charitable organization that improves the lives of nearly 300 people with developmental disabilities throughout Skokie and Niles, will participate in the annual Knights of Columbus Tootsie Roll Tag Days from September 19-21 at the Niles Jewel-Osco location, 5667 W. Touhy Ave., from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

During this community fundraising event, Orchard Village volunteers will be passing out Tootsie Rolls and asking customers for donations to support vital programs and services. Orchard Village operates 12 monitored residential homes throughout the Chicagoland area and empowers individuals with developmental disabilities to live independently, find meaningful work, and actively participate in their chosen communities. All contributions collected during Tootsie Roll Tag Days will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the Knights of Columbus, doubling the impact of every donation.

Tootsie Roll Tag Days come at a critical moment for organizations like Orchard Village. Recent surveys show that nearly half of nonprofits have experienced decreased federal funding, while disability services across the country are facing potential cuts of $163 billion in federal spending. Community support is now more essential than ever.

The Knights of Columbus has been a cornerstone of community support for developmental disabilities services for decades, helping organizations maintain critical programs during challenging economic times.
