SKOKIE, IL — Construction on the Oakton Street bridge over the Edens Expressway is due to begin Monday and continue for nearly two years, transportation officials announced.

While the bridge will remain open to cars in both directions during the project, work on the approximately 100-foot-long bridge will initially require lane closures during the daytime.

At some point in mid-March, Oakton Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction, which will both be shifted onto the north side of the bridge while the other side is being replaced.
