Shore Community Services, Inc. will host its annual Spring Benefit – Striding Towards a Promising Future – on Thursday, April 24, 6:00 p.m. at Pinstripes in Northbrook. The nonprofit organization based in Skokie serves nearly 400 children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities annually and is celebrating 74 years of improving the quality of life for individuals served.

The Spring Benefit stands as the organization’s premier annual fundraising event, presenting an opportunity to honor supporters for their tremendous contributions to Shore’s mission and engage others in helping to advance the nonprofit’s ongoing work to build promising futures for children and adults entrusted to Shore’s care. This year’s humanitarian award honoree is Dr. Jane Nani.

Dr. Nani is Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, followed by a fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at Beth Israel Hospital/Harvard Medical School. She has been in private practice since 1996 and is currently a partner with Fertility Centers of Illinois. She has been a longstanding supporter of Shore and is recognized as a sustaining donor for her contributions to the nonprofit’s growth and evolution.

“We are immensely grateful to have a steadfast supporter like Dr. Nani who firmly believes in Shore’s vision to be the organization of choice for families and community partners that promotes dignity, opportunity, and inclusive living for individuals with disabilities,” said Erin Ryan, CEO of Shore Community Services.

“We look forward to honoring her with the Thomas and Lois Lloyd Humanitarian Award along with Roxanne, a woman and resident of Shore Homes East who has received our services for over 40 years, with our President’s (lifetime achievement) Award for the strides and progress she has made throughout her journey with us.”

The Thomas and Lois Lloyd Humanitarian Award is named after Shore’s founders. In 1949, Thomas and Lois Lloyd began an informal organization to provide services for their daughter Patricia “Patty” and other children with intellectual and other developmental disabilities in the North Shore. It was Thomas and Lois Lloyd’s vision that allowed these children and adults the opportunity to reach their full potential as members of the community.

The theme for this year’s benefit is “Striding Towards a Promising Future.” The theme represents Shore’s long-term impact and commitment to the disability community and aims to inspire continued growth in years to come.
