Skokie Police Blotter: Burglary, Traffic, Marijuana Possession

The following information is from the Skokie Police Department. An arrest is not an indication of guilt.

Burglary (Residential)

At 11:35 p.m. on Jan. 16, in the 8300 block of Christina Avenue, unknown person(s) entered into an apartment by unknown means and stole various electronics.

A resident in the 9400 block of Tripp Avenue reported a burglary occurring between 8 a.m. on Jan. 13 and 4 p.m. on Jan. 17. Unknown person(s) used a pry tool to force open a north side door. Stolen were three Samsung flat screen televisions along with several men’s watches.

Unknown person(s) broke the door lock on a vehicle and entered into the trunk where a pair of new boots were reported stolen.

Burglary from Motor Vehicle on the 4900 block of Old Orchard Road, on January 14 between 10:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Reported: 01/15/2016

Unknown person(s) entered the vehicle by damaging the door. Stolen was the victim’s purse.

Burglary from Motor Vehicle on the 9700 block of Lawler Avenue, on January 15 between 7:45 a.m. and 2:50 p.m. Reported: 01/16/2016

Unknown person(s) pried open a vehicle door and stole a wallet.

Burglary from Motor Vehicle on the 4900 block of Old Orchard Road, on January 16 between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Reported: 01/16/2016

Unknown person(s) by unknown means entered the trunk of a vehicle and stole the victim’s purse and camera equipment.

Deceptive Practices
Deceptive Practices on the 9000 block of Lavergne Avenue, between January 6 at 4:28 p.m. and January 15 at 2:26 p.m. Reported: 01/15/2016

Unknown person(s) sent the victim a check to cash asking for her to send money to a third party. The victim realized that it was a scam a contacted the police.

Theft
Theft at 9611 Skokie Boulevard, Panera Bread, on January 15 between 1:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. Reported: 01/15/2016

Unknown person(s) stole the victim’s wallet out of her purse while her purse was hanging over the back of her chair.

Theft of Motor Vehicle Parts/Accessories
Theft of Motor Vehicle Parts/Accessories on the 8200 block of Christiana between January 10 at 8:00 a.m. and January 17 at 11:30 a.m. Reported: 01/17/2016

Unknown person(s) stole four tires and rims off a Mazda. The driver’s side window was also shattered. The inside of the vehicle was ransacked but nothing was reported stolen.

Malik, Yasir H., 28, 8521 Drake Avenue, was arrested for Possession of Cannabis on the 4400 block of Main Street, on 01/15/2016.

Khan, Samir P., 24, 7857 Niles Center Road, was arrested for Driving with a Suspended/Revoked Driver’s License on the 7700 block of McCormick Boulevard, on 01/15/2016.

Saleen, Mohd, 44, 4806 Mulford Street, #2E, was arrested for Driving with No Valid Driver’s License on the 5100 block of Dempster Street, on 01/15/2016.

Matute, Carlos, 32, 99 S. Butrick, Waukegan was arrested for Retail Theft on the 4900 block of Old Orchard Road, on 01/15/2016.

Torres, Luis E., 21, 4604 Keystone Avenue, Chicago, was arrested for Driving with No Valid Driver’s License on the 4800 block of Oakton Street, on 01/15/2016.

Garcia, Luis Alberto, 29, 2144 Brummel, Evanston, was arrested for Driving with No Valid Driver’s License on the 3600 block of Main Street, on 01/16/2016.

Jones, Andrew D., 25, 1418 N. Central Avenue, #1, Chicago, was arrested for Burglary on the 4900 block of Old Orchard Road, on 01/17/2016. Jones was discovered inside Macy’s while the store was closed.
