Springfield Public Schools: Eligibility Guidelines And Contract For Fall 2021 Athletics

The District #186 middle school eligibility requirements are as follows:

a. Attain a 2.0 GPA in the previous semester

b. Pass all classes in the previous semester, and 

c. Pass all classes weekly during the current quarter

COVID-19 and remote learning continued to create challenges for some students during the 2nd semester of the 2020-21 school year. These challenges resulted in students being ineligible for the 1st semester 2021-22 athletics and extracurricular activities due to not meeting the semester GPA and/or not passing all classes in which they were enrolled.

In order to allow student-athletes an opportunity to participate in athletics if they failed to meet the 2.0 GPA requirement and/or failed at least 1 semester class the following participation contract has been developed. If you have any other questions, please contact Mr. Hood: chhood@sps186.org

(Student Name) passed ___________ of __________ classes and earned a ____________GPA for the 2nd semester of the 2020-21 school year.  I understand that I did not meet the eligibility requirements to participate in athletics and extracurricular activities for the 1st semester 2021-22 school year.  I also understand that by signing this contract I will be allowed to participate in athletics and extracurriculars at Springfield Ball Charter School if I maintain passing grades in all of the classes that I am enrolled in weekly.  If I do not maintain weekly eligibility by passing all classes I will be removed from the team for the season after the third week of ineligibility.
