'Stranger Things' Star Promises To Officiate Illinois Wedding
He already made good on a promise to be in a fan's yearbook photos, now he'll reportedly preside over a couple's wedding in Springfield.

SPRINGFIELD, IL — He's beloved to fans as Police Chief Jim Hopper, the lawman with a heart of gold (not to mention some stellar dance moves) in the Netflix hit "Stranger Things." Earlier this month, he made good on a promise to be in a fan's school yearbook photo. Now actor David Harbour has made a Twitter pledge to officiate the wedding of an Illinois couple.
A week ago, Ericka Milholland tweeted at the actor, "What would it take to get @DavidKHarbour to be the Officiant at my wedding in September?!" Milholland is slated to marry groom Daniel Rockwood Sept. 15 in their hometown of Springfield, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Just like he did last fall when a student asked him to appear in her senior picture, Harbour responded, but this time he upped the ante: He told Milholland she had to get 125,000 retweets and it was a done deal — with some stipulations: "Provided date works with s3 shooting schedule, I will get ordained and perform ceremony. I get to read an esteemed love letter of my choosing, and after the cake is officially cut, I get the very first piece." He added the hashtag, "#allthecakes."

It didn't take long for the Twitterverse to make it happen — less than a day, in fact.
On Jan. 17, Harbour tweeted at the Illinois woman again: "Dammit. Not even 24hours. You’re kidding me. @ErickaElizabth DM me please to get the ball rolling. I’m making it seriously hard next time, internet, this is not over between us..." he wrote.

"It’s really weird and exciting and kind of overwhelming, but in a good way,” Millholland told the Tribune, adding that she and actor Harbour have exchanged messages but "nothing's been set in stone." The couple's wedding was originally slated to have a woodsy theme, but now she says they will likely incorporate "Stranger Things" into the motif.
The hit sci-fi show, also starring Winona Ryder and Millie Bobby Brown, released its second season in October 2017. A season three release date has yet to be announced.
Earlier this month, photos of Harbour keeping another Twitter promise were released after a Northern California teen asked him, "how many retweets for you take my senior photos with me?" That time around, Harbour specified 25,000 retweets; the teen's post ended up getting about 85,000 shares.
As with the Milholland/Rockwood wedding, Harbour had some stipulations for teen Damaris Fregoso: "I get to wear the school sweatshirt and hold a trombone," he wrote.
True to his word, Harbour took part in the photoshoot wearing a high school sweatshirt and holding a trombone.

On Jan. 22, Milholland thanked everyone who shared her tweet. "You all are awesome! #TwitterIsTheBest #AllTheCakes," she wrote.
