2 In Custody At Burlington Coat Factory, No Shooting Involved

Police said the sound of a Taser being deployed was mistaken for a gunshot. Two people are in custody and minor injuries were reported.

TINLEY PARK, IL — A spokeswoman for Tinley Park police told Patch a shooting did not occur inside of the Burlington Coat Factory Wednesday afternoon.

After reports of a shooting at the 16001 South Harlem Avenue location surfaced on social media, police told residents there was not a shooting in the area but confirmed a heavy police presence due to another another incident.

According to officials, the sound of a Taser being deployed was mistaken for a gunshot.

"I can assure you it was not a shooting," an official for Tinley Park police told Patch.

Two people were taken into custody. Minor injuries were reported.
