Mother, 3 Daughters Killed In Tinley Park Shooting Identified

Four women were found fatally shot inside a home in the 7400 block of 173rd Place Sunday, police said.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Police continue to investigate after four adult women—now confirmed to Patch as a mother and her three daughters—were found fatally shot inside a Tinley Park home Sunday morning in what police believe to be a domestic incident.

The victims have been identified as Majeda Kassem, 53, Halema Kassem, 25, Hanan Kassem, 24, and Zahia Kassem, 25, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner. All were pronounced dead at 11:36 a.m.

The four were found dead inside the home in the 7400 block of 173rd Place Sunday at 11:30 a.m., Village Manager Pat Carr told Patch. Police have one male suspect in custody, Carr confirmed.

Police received a 911 call at 11:20 a.m. from a man at the scene stating that someone had been shot inside the home, Carr said in a press conference Sunday afternoon. A male suspect was taken into custody at the house, police said. A gun was also recovered.

It was not immediately clear if the man taken into custody was the 911 caller, Carr said. The man in custody is reportedly the husband of Majeda Kassem and father to the three other victims. He had not yet been charged as of 8:30 p.m. Sunday.

There is no known record of previous police calls to the home, Carr said.

"We know that this was isolated to this home," Carr said. "The person was taken into custody at the home. The scene is secure. It is only one suspect at this time, and we're confident that there is no threat to the general public in the area."

Police asked that residents avoid the area as the investigation continues.
