Accused Drunken Driver: 'I Want to Walk in My Feet'
Police arrested an Oak Lawn woman this week who performed field sobriety tests shoeless.

nabbed a shoeless Oak Lawn woman Sunday near the intersection of 173rd Street and Oak Park Avenue, where they said she was driving on the wrong side of the road.
Ashley N. Geraty, 19, of the 10900 block of South Lorel Avenue in Oak Lawn, was arrested around 1:50 a.m. Sept. 4. and charged with driving under the influence, driving in the wrong lane, improper lane use and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.
As she was approaching the intersection, heading north, she began to drive in the southbound lanes of traffic, police said.
"The vehicle pulled back into the northbound lanes of traffic, striking the pedestrian crossing sign located on the north side," the report stated.
The cops quickly pulled her over, the report stated, and after she admitted to having a few beers, officers asked her to step out of the car to perform sobriety tests. That's when they noticed she wasn't wearing any shoes, they said.
"I asked Ashley if she had shoes in her vehicle that she would like to wear," the report said. "Ashley stated to me, 'I don't like shoes and I want to walk in my feet.'"
Police found an empty bottle of Johnnie Walker whiskey in Geraty's car and two Miller Light bottle caps, the report stated. She was taken to the police station, where she refused the Breathalyzer test.
