Andrew High School Stadium to Have New Concession Stand in Time for Football Season

District officials finally gave the go-ahead to build a brand new concession stand at Andrew High School. The proposal was initially introduced about one year ago.

After tying up a few loose ends during an executive session last week, officials gave their blessing for a concession stand at . 

The board voted 6-0 on Feb. 23 in favor of the snack spot, according to a Triblocal story. Board member Carol Baker abstained.

A stand at the school's stadium was first proposed about a year ago. As long as the district's attorney gives the plan the go-ahead, the $250,000 the project requires will be covered by the Andrew High School booster club, according to the story. The club has received several donations for the project and has also coordinated independent fundraising efforts.

Triblocal reports:

"The 960-square foot building will be located on the north side of the running track at the school, allowing easier access for fans of visiting teams to use it.

Work is scheduled to begin in June with the hope of finishing it by Aug. 15 to have it ready in time for the first football game Aug. 24. Superintendent James Gay said if there are problems with the construction, the current concession stand could still be used."

The former concession stand will be used for extra storage and possibly restrooms, the story states.
