Armored Car Robbers Carjacked Driver, Fled Walmart In Stolen Car: FBI

The FBI said one robber may have been wounded in a shootout with guards outside the Country Club Hills Walmart. They remain at large.

COUNTRY CLUB HILLS, IL — Two suspects in an attempted armored car robbery that led to a shootout at a Country Club Hills Walmart on Monday fled in a vehicle they carjacked, the FBI said Thursday. Days later, the suspects remain at large.

The armed suspects peeled into the parking lot of the Walmart, 4005 167th St., as the armored car guards conducted a money transfer in front of the store. They fired at the guards, who returned fire, the FBI said.

A security guard from the Walmart store also began firing at the suspects. One suspect may have been shot, authorities said. The suspects ran into the parking lot, then carjacked a victim and fled. The stolen vehicle was later recovered, and the suspects then fled on foot, the FBI said.
