Illinois ranked among one of the best states in the nation when it comes to patient safety at hospitals.

Illinois ranks among the best in the nation when it comes to patient safety at hospitals, according to a new report card.

In its biannual Hospital Safety Score study, the Washington D.C.-based non-profit Leapfrog Group graded more than 2,500 hospitals in the U.S. on 28 safety measures. A total of 117 hospitals in Illinois were issued grades ranging from A to F; though no Illinois hospitals listed in the report received a failing grade.

The report analyzed patient safety at hospitals using national performance measures from a variety of sources, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, American Hospital Association’s Annual Survey and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.
