Bogan Cornerback: Referee at Tinley Park High School Game Used a Racial Slur

ABC 7 News reported Tuesday that a Chicago high school football player said a referee at a recent Tinley Park-hosted game called him a racial slur.

The Chicago Public School district is investigating a complaint that a referee at the recent used a racial slur against a visiting player, ABC 7 reported late Tuesday.

Kiwane Williams, a black junior cornerback from Bogan Computer Technical High School, says a white referee called him a racial slur during a game hosted at , according to the report.

"Bogan players say the Tinley Park team was classy but one referee in particular was not," the ABC 7 news report said. "Williams says the referee was talking to him the whole game and toward the end said something that shocked him."

Williams went on to tell reporters that "... The ref came up and called me a stupid 'n' word, 'cause you're a stupid 'n' you think this is playground football or something."

Rather than say something back to the ref, he ran off the field and told his coach, the report said.

A Chicago Public Schools spokesperson told ABC 7 that the district will have no comment on the allegations until the investigation is complete.

The referees are licensed by the Illinois High School Association but are assigned by the host school's conference.
