Boo Bash Keeps Tinley Park's Long Tradition Of Halloween Fun

Hayrides and a costume contest are just some of the activities at this weekend's event at the Oak Park Avenue train station.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Halloween might not be until Tuesday, but that doesn't mean everyone has to wait until then to celebrate the holiday. The annual Downtown Tinley Boo Bash at the Oak Park Avenue train station lets residents scratch their costume-and-candy itch early this weekend, continuing the village's tradition of Halloween celebrations.

The free event runs from noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at the station, 6700 South St., and it includes games, crafts, hayrides and an interactive animal encounter. Durbin's and Mely's Mexican Restaurant will be selling food, and trick-or-treaters can collect their candy from local businesses.

  • Costume contest and prizes: noon to 2:30 p.m.
  • Magic shows: 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.
  • "Fangtastic" dance lessons: 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.
  • Witch’s storytime: 2:30 p.m.

Tinley Park's Boo Bash grew out of the village's annual Halloween Parade. In 2012, the festivities moved from Tinley Square Plaza to the train station, where it's been since.

Trick-or-treat hours in Tinley Park will be from 3:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31.
