Confirmed Coronavirus Case In Tinley Park; EMS Crew Self-Isolates
Village officials confirmed Tuesday there's still only one coronavirus case confirmed in Tinley Park.
TINLEY PARK, IL — As of March 24, there's been one confirmed case of the new coronavirus in Tinley Park. Assistant Village Manager Pat Carr confirmed Tuesday the case detailed on the village website is the only one officials were aware of at the time.
Village officials said one of their Kurtz EMS ambulance crews brought a patient that later tested positive for the coronavirus to Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox on March 17. The positive test was confirmed on March 20, when the EMS personnel began to self-isolate "out of the abundance of caution."
The EMS crew was wearing personal protective equipment while taking the patient to the hospital. The same clew did also have contact with the staff at Fire Station 48, so that station was temporarily taken out of service while it was decontaminated and has since re-opened.
