Crisis Center Receives $10,000 Donation From New Tinley Store

The Crisis Center For South Suburbia was given a $10,000 check from Sierra, a new discount outdoors store now open in Tinley Park.

TINLEY PARK, IL — The Crisis Center for South Suburbia was on hand Saturday, Aug. 24 to help welcome Sierra, an outdoors, active and lifestyle brand, to Tinley Park. As part of the grand opening celebration for Sierra’s new Tinley Park location, the Crisis Center was presented with a $10,000 donation from Sierra’s parent company, TJX Companies, Inc., to support the Crisis Center’s work with survivors of domestic violence.

"We are so grateful for the generosity of Sierra and TJX Companies," said Marita Kay, Director of Development of the Crisis Center for South Suburbia. "This donation will help us continue to provide critical services for survivors of domestic violence in the South Suburbs."

The grand opening event allowed customers to shop the latest Sierra gear while also learning more about the important work of the Crisis Center for South Suburbia. Sierra’s mission is to inspire people to get outside and live active lives, so partnering with an organization like the Crisis Center for South Suburbia, which empowers people facing crisis to live safe and independent lives, was a natural fit.

"At Sierra, we believe everyone deserves to feel empowered to get outside and experience life’s adventures," said Oner Trujillo, Store Manager.

"The Crisis Center shares our spirit of empowerment and independence, providing critical resources and support for people in crisis," said Noelle Zientara, Assistant Store Manager. "We are proud to support their mission and honored to have them join us in celebrating our new Tinley Park location."

The $10,000 donation will help the Crisis Center for South Suburbia continue providing free and confidential services for survivors of domestic violence. The Crisis Center operates a 24-hour crisis hotline, emergency shelter, counseling, legal advocacy, and community education programs for survivors in the South Suburbs of Chicago.
