DUI Arrestee Says 'You Can't Charge Me,' and More

Also in the latest police reports, dated June 20, 28 and 30 and July 2, a man threatens to kill another and watermelons, flowers and owls show up on a woman's lawn.

MONDAY, JULY 2

Owls, Watermelons and Flowers

A woman living in the 16900 block of South Willow Lane in awoke to find a dozen lawn ornaments scattered throughout her front yard. She said she didn't recognize any of the ornaments as belonging to her neighbors and found them around 5:25 a.m.

The display included one green "Slow, Children at Play" sign, one plastic duck, one plastic goose, two plastic owls, a plastic boy wearing a hat, two metal watermelons, two metal flowers, one nylon flower and a plastic pedestal with a yellow gazing ball, according to the report.

SATURDAY, JUNE 30

iPhone Stolen While Go-Carting 

A 28-year-old man realized his iPhone was missing after a ride in a go cart at Odyssey Fun World, 19111 S. Oak Park Ave., .  The man got out of the cart around 3:35 p.m. and immediately noticed the phone wasn't hanging from his waist in the holster he used.

He stayed to watch the next race and saw a teen get into his go cart. He notified staff. When he went into the cart, the holster for the phone was in it, but the phone was gone, the report said. Police believe the juvenile may have taken the phone. They were waiting Tuesday to review surveillance footage of the incident. 

THURSDAY, JUNE 28

DUI Arrestee: 'You Can't Charge Me'

Police arrested an accused drunken driver around 2 a.m. who they said was driving 70 mph in a 40 mph zone and weaving across lane lines on northbound Harlem Avenue in .

Brandon Tidwell, 29, of the 3600 block of West 58th Street in Chicago, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, speeding and improper lane use. He refused to give a breath sample and reportedly became belligerent with police when told he was charged with DUI.

"OK, you think so," he said, according to the report. "You can't charge me."

WEDNESDAY, JUNE 20

Man Threatens to Kill

A 26-year-old man reported around 7:30 p.m. that he'd been receiving threatening phone calls from a man who was formerly involved with a woman the victim also dated at a point. The two did not date the woman simultaneously but the suspect reportedly blames the victim for his relationship with the woman failing, the report said.

The man had texted the victim between 200 and 300 times since June 2, the report said. He threatened his life about a dozen times, according to police.

"(The suspect) sent a text … stating 'I'm not going to stop beating your face until you're dead," the report said. " … (He then) sent another stating, "I'm going to kill you …" 

Police contacted the man and he told them he was just trying to scare the victim and didn't plan to actually do anything to hurt him, the report said.
