Fire Leaves Tinley Park Home Uninhabitable: Fire Chief

The fire happened the morning of Monday, Jan. 30 in the 6500 block of 171st Street.

TINLEY PARK, IL — A resident made it out safely with only minor injuries after a fire left a Tinley Park home uninhabitable, authorities said.

Tinley Park Fire Department crews were called to the fire in the 6500 block of 171st Street just before 10:30 a.m. An occupant of the home made it out with minor burns to their hand, said Tinley Park Fire Chief Steve Klotz. The resident was treated at the scene and declined to be taken to a hospital.

The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes, Klotz said, but caused extensive damage to the home. The cause is still under investigation.

Tinley Park Fiire was assisted by Orland Park, Oak Forest, Frankfort, and Country Club Hills. No firefighters were injured.
