Game On: Tinley Park High School Field Gets a National Nod

The Titans' field was given national honors for the fifth consecutive year, according to reports from Bremen High School District 228.

For the fifth consecutive year, the Titan's athletics field has been honored as one of the finest in the nation.

was notified Thursday that its immaculately manicured turf was again selected as a winner of the Pioneer Athletics' Fields of Excellence Award—a title shared by just 90 other schools in the U.S. 

Pioneer Athletics is a company that specializes in all things playing fields, from the type of paint and maintenance to the grass and overall design.

"Faced with tightened budgets and being asked to do more with less, the field crews of these schools and organizations exemplified team work and dedication in 2011," stated a letter written to administrators at TPHS.

Schools must apply to participate in the contest and entries are carefully reviewed and critiqued by judges, according to the Pioneer Athletics website. The award is given, in part, as a nod to the "men and women who work hard to make game day a special day by producing an exceptional field of play," contest rules say.

"Your crew exhibited the care, dedication, and overall superior qualities that our judges were looking for," stated the letter sent to TPHS. "This achievement has placed your field among the best, both professional and amateur alike …"
