The pub several years ago showed their love for Grib, as she faced a double mastectomy following a breast cancer diagnosis. Staff started a GoFundMe that raised more than $7,000 to help offset the cost of her surgery and support her during recovery.

Staff encouraged those who knew her to share their memories of her via social media. Tributes have steadily trickled in.

One former co-worker said she had worked with Grib for seven years.

"It was always a great night working together," she wrote. "She was a friend to everyone and had the biggest heart. She has touched the lives of so many over the years."

Another patron shared their sentiments.

"We are so heartbroken to hear about Kris passing, she really was the heart & soul of Teehan's," the customer wrote. "We have all gained a very special angel."

Others called her "a friend that became family," and "one of the sweetest people I've ever met." Some called her "salt of the earth" and "an absolute doll."

Visitation will be held Saturday, Sept. 16 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Vandenberg Funeral Home, 19604 S. Wolf Rd. in Mokena. Interment to follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation.
