Hotel Employee Stole $1,700 From Guest, 2nd May Be Involved: Cops

Police arrested a 27-year-old Woodspring Suites employee and are investigating a second employee in connection to the robbery.

TINLEY PARK, IL — A hotel employee was arrested, and another employee is under investigation after a woman told police she was the victim of a robbery at Woodspring Suites.

According to police, a woman told officers someone broke into her hotel room at the 18636 West Creek Drive hotel and stole $1,700 in cash on Jan. 6.

After investigation, police arrested 27-year-old Whitney McCauley in connection to the crime and later charged the employee with criminal trespass to property. Authorities told Patch a second hotel employee is being investigated in connection to the crime as well.

Officials from Woodspring Suites, an extended stay hotel chain with over 300 locations across the Chicagoland area, did not immediately respond to request for comment.
