Know Before You Go: Tinley Block Party 2023 Ready To Rock

TINELY PARK, IL — Downtown Tinley Park is set to host two days of fun, with the Tinley Block Party Saturday, July 15 and Sunday, July 16.

The two-day event includes live music, food, carnival rides, and other fun. The event runs from 2 to 10 p.m. Saturday, July 15 and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 16 in and around Zabrocki Plaza, 17375 S. Oak Park Ave.

WHAT TO EXPECT

The Village has put in place tighter security protocol, as officials seek to be proactive after hordes of teenagers disrupted a carnival in May. The mob of 400 teenagers descended on the Armed Forces Carnival, brawling with each other and creating a chaotic, fear-filled scene. The incident led to the cancelation of the event's second day, and set in motion Village planning for heavier security measures.

Visitors can expect bag checks at all entrances, and anyone age 17 and younger must be accompanied by an adult age 21 or older. The Youth Supervision Policy (YSP) in conjunction with the following Code of Conduct Policy will be enforced.

What that means:

• Guests age 17 and younger are required to be accompanied by and remain with a parent or adult age 21 or older at all times.
• Unsupervised youths age 17 and younger will not be admitted without a parent or supervising adult age 21 or older.
• Proof of age will be required for the supervising adult, age 21 or older. Those who fail to produce proper identification will be asked to leave the property.
• Proper identification includes a State-issued driver’s license or ID card, a passport, or a military ID. The identification must include a photograph, date of birth and be tamper-proof.
• One adult may accompany as many as three youths. The supervising adult must remain with the youths at all times.
• Supervising adults are responsible for the actions of the youth they accompany and must ensure they are following the festivals Code of Conduct.

In addition to Tinley Park police among the crowds, visitors will also notice other, armed security guards. Private, outside security firm P4 has been contracted to work in tandem with local police.

PARKING AND SHUTTLES

Two free shuttle buses will run between the north lot at the 80th Avenue train station and the corner of 67th Court and South Street from 1:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday, July 15 and 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 16.
