Know Before You Go: Fireworks, Live Music, Ribs July 4 In Tinley Park
Tinley Park's inaugural RibFest kicks off Saturday, July 1, running through July 4. Get the info before you go.
TINLEY PARK, IL — Rib lovers, get your appetites ready. Tinley Park is set to debut its newest event when the sauce is slathered at RibFest Saturday, July 1.
The fest—held at the 80th Avenue Metra station at 18001 S. 80th Ave.—opens at 2 p.m. July 1, running through July 4 and culminating with a fireworks show. Entrance is $10 in advance, and $15 at the gate. Food, drinks, and ride tickets are sold separately.
The multi-day fest will be a first for the Village, Village Manager Pat Carr told Patch, but also the first of many like it to come. The Village has prepped significantly for the event, Carr said, enhancing security measures after a chaotic scene unfolded in May, when hundreds of teens swarmed a carnival and created chaos at a Tinley Park carnival.

Officials are taking extra steps to keep crowds safe at upcoming festivals. Mayor Michael Glotz previously alluded to stricter security protocol coming to future events, and Carr said that includes armed security from an outside firm working alongside local police.
