What started as one man's goal to shop for groceries for the senior citizens on his block has turned into a village-wide effort.

Tim Janecyk's idea has morphed into a group of Tinley Park volunteers who are helping those in need every day. A special "swearing-in" ceremony made 11 of them official Emergency Management Agency members. The group responds to senior citizens and others at-risk for the coronavirus by delivering them groceries, picking up their medications or doing anything else that's needed so they do not have to leave the house.

On the local business front, some owners have shared information on their open/closed status. Business owners are encouraged to let customers know what they have available by filling out this brief form.

While social distancing occurred during the most recent Tinley Park Village Board meeting, the village decided to cancel all in-person meetings at village hall until at least April 7. Talks regarding the possible sale of the former Tinley Park Mental Health Center property from the state of Illinois to the village have stalled as a result.

The village has this video posted on their website along with recent coronavirus news.
