Let Them Eat Cake: Tinley Park Patch Celebrates its 1st Anniversary

One year down, many more to go.

Dear Patch readers,

When you woke up this morning, you probably didn’t realize it was a special day for your favorite online publication (nudge, nudge … We’re your favorite, right?). But it is. Sept. 14 marks the one-year anniversary of the day Patch was born in Tinley Park.

And what a year it has been for your multi-faceted, vibrant south suburban village. Although I only (I spent much of the last year editing for Naperville Patch, the site I launched last August), I’m celebrating this special occasion in a few different ways.

For one, I'm highlighting some of our content from the past year, both tragic and triumphant.

I'll also am holding “office hours” from 8 a.m. to noon today at the Starbucks in Tinley Park near 159th Street and Harlem Avenue. Please take a few minutes to stop by and say “hi” if you’re in the area and I’ll give you some sweet Patch shwag—a little token of my appreciation for your support. And heck, I’ll even buy my first 10 visitors a cup o’ joe.

Editing for Patch is not meant to be a one-way street. I count on your feedback, news tips and interaction on Tinley Park Patch. The site should be your modern-day coffee shop, post office or village hall—a place you gather to talk about what’s going on in your community and solve all the problems of the world.

OK, so maybe that’s taking a bit too far. But the information we dish out is not simply meant to consumed and left for digestion. It should be discussed and shared with others.

You can also create your own content. The site belongs to you, the residents. So please remember to submit your own photos, announcements and events.

Also take a minute to look at some of the new features we’ve added over the last 12 months including our Q & A section, , a more searchable Places Directory and an interactive Facebook page.
