Lockport Man Arrested In Tinley 'Child Luring' Incident

Guillermo Alva, 62, was charged with child abduction after police said he tried to lure a girl into his van by offering her money.

TINLEY PARK, IL — A 62-year-old Lockport man has been arrested in connection with a child luring incident in Tinley in which he offered a young girl money to get into his van with him, authorities said. Guillermo Alva, 62, was charged with one count of child abduction, which is a class four felony, Tinley Park police said.

According to authorities, Alva tried to lure a young girl into his car by offering her cash May 8. She had been walking by herself near the 16700 block of Harlem when Alva first approached her to ask for directions to a local business. That frightened the girl, who then walked into the parking lot of a nearby business. The man followed her into the parking lot where he offered her money to get into his red minivan. Police said the girl then went into the business and told employees what had happened. The man immediately fled the scene.

On May 11, investigators with Tinley Park police arrested Alva. He was scheduled for a bond hearing later that day at the Leighton Criminal Court Building in Chicago.
