UPDATE: Man Fatally Hit by Metra Train During Tuesday Evening Rush
Investigators remained on the scene of the train vs. pedestrian incident shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday.

A man was struck and killed Tuesday evening by a Metra commuter train passing through downtown Tinley Park.
Emergency personnel responded to the Oak Park Avenue station around 5:25 p.m., where the victim was pronounced dead. He was hit by outbound Rock Island District Train No. 413, authorities said Tuesday, noting that the incident remained under investigation.

Officials remained on the scene around 7:40 p.m., according to a local source who contacted Tinley Park Patch. The incident occurred on the south side of the tracks.
Although the man's identity had not been made public, CBS reported that he was "thought to be in his 30s."
