Man Pitches Tent in Siemsen Meadow, Police Say

Tinley Park police said they found a man camping in a local park last week.

officers arrested a man last week who they said set up camp in a public park. 

They stumbled upon Anthony L. Kallas, 20, of the 7400 block of 160th Place in , around 6 a.m. April 2 after getting a call about suspicious activity at Hilbert Siemsen Meadow, 7400 167th St., according to the police report. They said he was surrounded by beer cans, bottles and various garbage. 

Kallas told police he wasn't in contact with his parents and that he'd been kicked out of other relatives' home, the report said.

Police asked him to clean up the garbage before packing up his tent. They issued him a citation for violating the village ordinance of camping on park district property, the report said.
