Man Steals Purse While Woman Pumps Gas
Police are looking for a purse snatcher who entered a woman's car while she had her back turned.

were investigating a theft last week that occurred at a local gas station where a woman's purse was stolen from her car while she was filling her gas tank.
The woman told officers that around 2:40 p.m. April 9 at Speedway, 7201 W. 183rd St. in , she went into the back seat of her vehicle through the passenger-side door. At that time, she noticed a man standing strangely close to her driver's side door. The man quickly got into a black Pontiac four-door and sped off, according to the report.
A witness soon approached the woman, saying he saw the man go into her car. He asked her if she was missing anything. At that time, she reported that her purse was stolen. Police said the woman's bank card was used immediately afterward to buy a $699 iPad at Super Target in .

Investigators have surveillance footage of the incident and were able to get a license plate number of the suspect's getaway car from the witness and a gas station employee.
Officers said the vehicle is registered to a Calumet City couple. No charges had yet been filed as of April 13.
