TINLEY PARK, IL — A South Holland woman has been cited after she reportedly drove around gates and ignored signals of an approaching Metra train near the Oak Park Avenue stop, Metra officials said Monday.

According to police, Aundrane Randles’ vehicle went around the clearly marked crossing arms with flashing red lights and an audible signal while a train was approaching, said Meg Thomas-Reile, public relations manager at Metra.

Inbound train 230 went into emergency mode but could not stop in time, striking the vehicle between 9 and 9:15 p.m. Saturday, Thomas-Reile said.

One track was reopened within an hour of the incident, Thomas-Reile said. With limited service on a Saturday night, only the train involved and one outbound train were delayed. The outbound train reached its final destination 17 minutes behind schedule. The train involved was delayed about 90 minutes, she noted.
