The Consolidated High School District 230 Board of Education approved Doug Bozych as Victor J. Andrew High School’s new Assistant Principal of Activities. He will move from his current position as Division Chair for Physical Education, Health, and Driver Education and replace Tim Dalton, who is retiring at the end of this school year.
Bozych has been the Division Chair of Physical Education, Health, and Driver Education at Andrew High School since 2022. Before this administrative role, he was the division chair of Physical Education, Health, and Driver Education at Amos Alonzo Stagg from 2020-22. He began his career at Andrew as a PE, Health, Driver Ed, & Adapted PE teacher for more than one decade. He was heavily involved as the head coach of Andrew’s boys' track and field program and as Student Activities coordinator. He has spent more than 10 years as part of the Illinois High School and College Driver Education Association Board of Directors, where he worked on statewide curriculum, program development, and program-enhancing legislation, often presenting at regional and state conferences.
Andrew Principal Dr. Abir Othman said, “ Doug brings experience, vision, and heart to the Assistant Principal of Activities position. His leadership in both the classroom and in student activities has already made a lasting impact at Andrew. We are excited to see him continue elevating our student experience.”

Students who are involved in co-curricular activities generally perform better academically than those who are not. One of the key components as the assistant principal of activities will be to encourage every student to find an activity to join, which will ultimately help them engage with school, Othman added.
Bozych said, “I’m beyond grateful for this opportunity and truly excited about the future at Andrew High School. I can’t wait to work with our students, staff, and community as we continue growing our co-curricular programs, developing student leaders, and elevating the Thunderbolt experience for T-Bolts past, present, and future. I’m excited to bring my years of curricular experience into this role to better connect our curricular and co-curricular programming and help drive student growth and achievement. I’m also thankful to follow in the footsteps of our current AP, Tim Dalton—the 2024 IPA Assistant Principal of the Year. Tim has done incredible work and played a major role in establishing the student-first, family-oriented culture we’re so proud of at Andrew.”
