New Contract Saves Tinley Residents Money On Garbage Bills

A new contract slashes rates for Tinley's garbage collection. Disabled veterans will soon be able to have their trash picked up for free.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Tinley Park's renegotiated garbage contract offers residents more services for less money — and starting in the fall, disabled veterans no longer will have to pay for trash collection.

Rates drop $1.37 a month for most residents, and $2.63 for seniors. Rates for disabled veterans drop from a monthly $25.62 to $0.

The new contract with longtime provider Homewood Disposal Services also offers new services,

including e-waste collection, Christmas tree collection and opt-ins for townhouses and condominiums. Those associations will be offered a per-unit rate of $21 per month for individual invoicing and $20 per month for HOA direct invoicing. Homewood Disposal also now will pick up oversized items — think pianos and hot tubs — for $45 for each item.
