New Tinley Park Fire Station 47 Opens On 167th Street
Firefighters moved into the new Station 47 on 167th Street last week.

TINLEY PARK, IL — Four Tinley Park Fire Department stations are open once again as firefighters moved into the recently built new Station 47 at 7825 W. 167th St. last week. Tinley Park Fire Chief Forest Reeder said the firefighters who are stationed there were temporarily working out of two of the other three fire stations in town during the 14 months the new station was under construction.
Reeder took Tinley Park residents on a virtual tour of the new station in a YouTube video that can be viewed below.
"It's a great station that will do great things for the community," he said in the detailed video.

In just the week-and-a-half that it has been open, the new station has already handled a number of calls, the fire chief told Patch.
"It's safe to say that's been our busiest station," he said. "We are still unpacking and setting things up the way we'd like it, but we sure already do like the space we have there."

A fitness center is among the modern amenities of the new station, which was built on the spot where the former fire station stood for more than 40 years.
The old station had been through "a number of remodels" after originally being built as a volunteer station in the 1970's but "couldn't handle the staffing needs" of the present day, Reeder said.
Its replacement is large enough to house six first responders at one time: three firefighters, two paramedics and a shift commander. The new 167th Street station will also host the office of the deputy chief.
