Orland Man Charged in Connection With Tinley Carjacking

Tinley Park police arrested a man on Friday who they said played a part in stealing a car from an old lady after threatening to shoot her.

Police have arrested a man in connection with a carjacking that occurred last week outside a local dollar store.

Michael J. Kroll, 23, of Orland Park, was arrested Friday and charged with one count of vehicular hijacking, according to a news release sent today by . He appeared in a Bridgeview courtroom this morning, where his bail was set at $750,000.

Though the report doesn't detail Kroll's role in the hijacking, it says charges stem on Harlem Avenue where two men approached a woman in her 90s and asked her for directions. The woman was getting into her car at the time, police said.

One of the men ordered the woman out of her 1999 Oldsmobile Cutlass and grabbed her purse before driving away. The duo threatened to shoot the woman but didn't show a gun, police have said. The woman wasn't seriously injured.
