Orland Teen Found With Gun Near Andrew High School
An Orland Park teen was arrested Tuesday morning after he was found with a handgun near school premises.
TINLEY PARK, IL — A 17-year-old Orland Park boy was arrested Tuesday morning after he was found with a gun near the Andrew High School campus at 9001 W. 171st St., Tinley Park.
The teen was let into the building shortly before 10 a.m. by a student who opened a side door, but was immediately turned away by a staff member and told to enter through the south entrance, as the school day had already started. The teen then began wandering around the east side of the building before leaving the premises.
The Tinley Park Police Department’s school resource officer then approached the teen, who had walked off campus, and found a handgun in the boy’s waistband. The teen was not a student at Andrew High School.
