The class comes in partnership with the Orland Fire Protection District. The Township says these classes have helped save lives in the past.

ORLAND TOWNSHIP, IL — The Orland Township, in partnership with the Orland Fire Protection District, will offer a free CPR class for senior residents, according to the office of Orland Township Supervisor Paul O’Grady.
The class will be taught by certified instructors from the Orland Fire Protection District and will include CPR, AED and choking education, according to the Township. The class does not include a completion card.
"Orland Township is proud to partner with the Orland Fire Protection District to offer free CPR, AED and choking education training to our senior residents," O’Grady said. "I urge seniors to take advantage of the class – you may save someone’s life."

According to the Township, in 2018 — just a week after attending a CPR, AED and choking education class — resident Bill Weir administered the Heimlich maneuver to a fellow bingo player who began choking during the Township’s senior drop-in. Weir’s action dislodged the food blocking the individual’s airway. After being checked out by responding paramedics and refusing further treatment that individual resumed playing bingo.
CPR training for seniors is open to Orland Township residents 55 and older. The class will be held on Thursday, Nov. 12 at 1 p.m. at the Orland Township office, 14807 S. Ravinia Ave. There is no charge to attend the class, but space is limited and registration is required.
