Thief Goes on Electronics Shopping Spree, Woman Smacks Man With Pickle, and More

SATURDAY, DEC. 17 

Package Theft

A woman called around 11 a.m. to report that someone stole a brown North Face jacket and computer ink cartridge that were delivered Dec. 10 to her apartment building in the 7100 block of 166th Street in . The woman confirmed the delivery with the postal service, she said.

Warrant Arrest

James R. Schmitz, 30, of the 100 block of Elm Street in New Lenox, turned himself in around 12:50 a.m. at the on a failure-to-appear warrant out of Will County. His bail was set at $1,000.

Warrant Arrest

James J. Churchill, 27, of the 100 block of Elm Street in Park Forest, was arrested around 7 p.m. at the Matteson Police Department on a warrant out of Tinley Park for retail theft. His bail was set at $5,000. 

Battery at Work

Christina B. Cambridge, 23, of the 3300 block of 170th Street in East Lansing, was arrested around 8 a.m. at her work, KVH Industries, 8412 W. 185th St., Tinley Park. Witnesses told police that Cambridge was "raining punches onto (a co-worker)" in a locker room area. The fight started when Cambridge reportedly bumped into the victim while she was putting on a smock in front of a locker. 

Thief Goes on Electronics Shopping Spree

A man said that someone stole three credit cards from his pants while they were in a locked locker at LA Fitness, 18400 S. Convention Center Drive in Tinley Park.

The victim went to the gym at 4 p.m., according to the report, and left his wallet in his pants and secured it in a locker. When he got back, he noticed that the items in his pockets were "messed up," police said, and not in the same places they were before.

He was later contacted by a Discover representative who said someone used his card for a $1,888.69 purchase at HH Gregg in Orland Park. The card was also used to for a $2,928.28 purchase at Best Buy in Orland Park. A separate credit card was fraudulently charged for $2,335.22, police said. 

SUNDAY, DEC. 11

Woman Smacks Man With Pickle

A woman was told to leave J.W. Hollstein's after she reportedly smacked a man in the face with a pickle and then pummeled him with her fist.

Although the 30-year-old wasn't formally charged by , she was given a trespass warning pertaining to the bar at 17358 Oak Park Ave.

The bar-side argument erupted around 10:15 p.m., police said, when she was talking to the victim, who she met at the bar. The woman allegedly socked the man in the head after he knocked food out of her hand. She hit him more than 20 times with a closed fist, police said.
