Police Blotter: Battery at the Amphitheatre, Saw Blades Shoplifted, DUI

SUNDAY, AUG. 28

Saw Blades Shoplifted

Sharin A. McCullough, 27, of the 500 block of East 900 North in Valparaiso, Ill., was arrested around noon at Menards, 6851 W. 159th St., , and charged with retail theft. Loss prevention officers watched McCullough take four packages of 6-inch saw blades from the shelf and put them in her purse, they said in the report. The merchandise totaled $119.96, police said.

Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid a Crash

Corey D. Gray, 36, of the 3000 block of Bernice Road in Lansing, was arrested around 11:10 a.m. in the 6700 block of 159th Street in Tinley Park and charged with driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.

Battery at the Amphitheatre

  • Julia H. Tobin, 43, of the 4300 block of East Bill Mallory Drive in Bloomington, Ind., was arrested around 8:30 p.m. at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre, 19100 S. Ridgeland Ave., and charged with battery. Police said Tobin socked three women she knew in the face.
  • Michael P. Magro, 22, of the 26100 block of Lauren Drive in Channahon, was arrested around 10:45 p.m. at the amphitheater and charged with battery. Police said he punched a security guard in the left jaw. His bail was set at $1,500.
  • Jeremy D. Shreffler, 25, of the 1900 bock of South Washington Street in Lockport, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. in the 19100 block of Ridgeland Avenue and charged with battery. Police said that when asked to leave, he grabbed onto the bar and wouldn't let go. He was reportedly yelling at security guards and when one tried to escort him out, he placed him in a headlock, according to the report. His bail was set at $1,500.
  • Matthew A. Mallette, 23, of the of the 500 block of Maple Avenue in Lisle, was arrested around 8:45 p.m. and charged with two counts of aggravated battery—one for bodily harm and one for battering a private security officer, the report said. Police said Mallette got into an argument in the lawn area of the theater, where he reportedly beat a security guard. He also punched another concertgoer, according to the report.

Battery on a Landscaping job

A man called the cops around 9 a.m. to report that while he was working on a landscaping job in the 6400 block of West 163rd St., his boss took away his trimmer and struck him in the head, threw him to the ground and began beating him. "When questioned why (the boss) was so angry at him, (the victim) said that he was from a California company and has always been aggressive." Three other landscapers backed up the man's story, police said, but the man decided not to sign complaints.

Warrant Arrest

Ryan R. Killeen, 20, of the 7700 block of 162nd Street, was arrested around 4 p.m. at the , 7850 183rd St., on a failure-to-appear warrant out of Lasalle County for consumption of alcohol by a minor. Her bail was set at $3,000.

THURSDAY, AUG. 25

Home Break-in

No items were reported missing from a home in the 17100 block of Overhill Avenue, which police said appeared to have been ransacked between 7:50 a.m. and 1:25 p.m. A resident said she came home to find her back patio door off its frame and lying on a table in the family room. Police said several drawers in the home's bedrooms had been riffled through.

WEDNESDAY, AUG. 24

Driving Under the Influence

  • David P. Lowery, 30, of the 16900 block of 88th Court in Orland Hills, was arrested around 1:42 a.m. in the 6700 block of Oak Park Avenue in Tinley Park. He was charged with driving under the influence and driving under the influence with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08. His bail was set at $1,000.
  • Robert P. Dunne, 22, of the 16500 block of Evergreen Drive in Tinley Park, was arrested around 4:40 a.m. near the intersection of 170th Place and 80th Avenue. Police said Dunne ran a red light, almost crashing into another driver. That driver followed Dunne and called the cops to report him as a drunken driver. Dunne was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08 and disobeying a traffic control device.
