Police Blotter: Punches and Theft at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre

TUESDAY, AUG. 9
Shoplifting at Super Kmart
Carol A. Suich, 52, of Orland Park, was stopped by store security at Super Kmart, 16300 Harlem Ave., for shoplifting after a loss prevention agent noticed Suich removing items from shelves and placing them in green bag she was carrying, police said. The agent detained Suich until police arrived and found $136.97 worth of merchandise in the bag, according to the report. Suich is scheduled to appear in court in Bridgeview on Sept. 28.
Car Burglarized, Damaged
A burgundy 1999 Chevy Cavalier was broken into sometime between midnight and 10:15 a.m. in a parking lot at Vogt Woods, according to a police report. Approximately $3 in loose change, a brown billfold and a black tie were reported missing from the car. There was damage to the driver's side door and both the turn signal and windshield wiper handles, police said.

Family Cars Ransacked, GPS Missing
A mother and daughter reported to police that sometime between 1 a.m. and 8 a.m., someone entered both a 2005 Toyota Corolla and a 2006 Toyota Camry belonging to the victims. There were papers and other items strewn about in both cars, the report said. One victim said nothing appeared to be missing from her car, while the other said her Garmin GPS, valued at about $125, was missing. The victims said they usually lock their cars, although they were unsure if the vehicles were locked on that night.

Swerving Leads to DUI Charge
Police pulled over a blue Mazda hatchback after watching the car swerve several times in the 17600 block of Harlem Avenue. Alfred C. Thomas Jr., 27, of Kankakee, was seen driving the vehicle after midnight and was pulled over. He was unable to complete a field sobriety test and he later blew a blood-alcohol level of .225, police said. He was given a court date of Aug. 22 in Bridgeview.
FRIDAY, AUG. 5
Scuffle in Amphitheatre Parking Lot
Sam R. Fitzgibbons, 20, of Oak Forest, and Ryan E. Gitzgibbons, 23, of Oak Forest, were charged with battery after punching and kicking one victim and then punching a female victim after an argument in the parking lot of First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre, police said. Witnesses did not hear the verbal altercation but did see the brothers strike both victims first, police said. The Fitzgibbons brothers are scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 16 in Bridgeview.
Wrong Seat, Wrong Attitude
Randall S. Vogt, 40, of Chatham, was charged with battery during a concert at the First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre. The report said Vogt was in the wrong seat and was asked to return to his purchased seat but refused. When security attempted to escort Vogt to his proper seat, Vogt punched a security member in the chest, the report said. Vogt is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 16 in Bridgeview.
Liquor, Soda Stolen from Amphitheatre
A complainant told police that sometime between 5:20 p.m. on Aug. 3 and 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 5, somebody entered removed approximately $1,058.03 worth of liquor and soda from the north and south wing bars at First Midwest Bank Amphitheatre. The suspects entered the venue by cutting a chain around a main entrance, then cutting two chains that locked the merchandise in two large coolers, according to the report.
