Police Chase Stolen Car Through South Suburbs

VIDEO: A stolen-car suspect was arrested in a field after hitting speeds of 90 mph through south suburban streets near Country Club Hills.

A high-speed pursuit through neighborhood streets in Country Club Hills, then down Ridgeland Avenue to Crete-Monee Road, ended with the suspect's arrest in a field.

The entire chase was recorded on video Friday morning, including the arrest, by NBC's Sky 5.

The chase began just after 6:45 a.m. as the NBC chopper was overhead recording an accident on Vollmer Road. The camera spotted the vehicle, a black Chevy with a window shot out, after the Illinois State Police put out a bulletin.

The car reached speeds of 90 mph as police gave chase south on Ridgeland toward U.S. 30 and then further south to Crete-Monee Road. The car crashed into a field and the suspect took off running. He didn't get far as police swarmed him and took the man into custody as he tried to hide in a cluster of trees.

He appeared to have difficulty running because his pants were falling down.
