Police: Drunken Driver Asks for 'a Break' After Crashing Into Median
Cops nabbed a man last week who they said blew more than twice the legal limit. He asked that they not arrest him, according to reports.

Despite his urging, officers didn't cut a reported drunken driver any slack last week.
They pulled over James P. Kedrick, 54, of the 10600 block of South Sawyer Avenue in Chicago, around 9:40 p.m. Jan. 23 after getting a report that his tan Mercury was "weaving in and out of the lanes of traffic and striking the median," police said.
When officers caught up with him, he was cruising 25 mph in a 40 mph zone, they said. They noted the same driving behavior that their tipster did and pulled over Kedrick in the 17200 block of Harlem Avenue, according to the report.

Kedrick took his time, eventually stopping in a gas station, they said. Police approached and asked him to put his car in park. Though Kedrick insisted his vehicle was in park, the officer said the gear selector showed it was in reverse.
"(The officer) asked the suspect if he had been drinking and he advised he had a few and … asked if he could get a break," the report said.

Kedrick stumbled out of the car when asked to perform field sobriety tests, bracing himself as he walked, according to the report. He reportedly failed field sobriety tests after not even attempting those he claimed he just couldn't do. He continued asking officers to give him a break, the report said.
Kedrick was arrested and taken to the , where he blew a .241 on the Breathalyzer, police said. He was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood-alcohol content greater than 0.08.
