Police Warn Residents To Lock Cars After Burglars Hit Tinley
A cheeky Facebook post by Tinley police warns residents to lock doors and garages after a rash of break-ins the past few nights.
TINLEY PARK, IL — Tinley Park police are issuing a tongue-in-cheek warning to residents — one grounded in serious truths — to lock their cars after a spate of burglaries hit the village during the past few nights.
The warning, issued through the village's public safety page, said that police have received "numerous reports" of vehicle and garage burglaries during the past several nights. The common denominator, they said, was openness: Cars were unlocked and garage doors were open. In one case, someone took a garage door opener from an unlocked car and used the remote to get inside the garage.
One victim offered what police said was "a very vague description" of a suspect: a "tall and slender male white wearing grey shorts." It is believed the suspected thief left the area in a black SUV.
