Group Forms To Help Those At-Risk For Coronavirus In Tinley Park

There's a group of people in Tinley Park committed to helping those at risk for the new coronavirus get their groceries and/or medications.

TINLEY PARK, IL — The Tinley Park Emergency Management Agency has formed a citizen volunteer committee to help residents who are most at risk for the new coronavirus. The "Neighbors 4 Neighbors" group began last week helping senior citizens and other residents at risk by delivering groceries, medications and other needs.

Volunteers have organized via the seven police beats in the village found below. Anyone who needs help should email their name, address, phone number and police beat to to COVID19inquiry@TinleyPark.org so a volunteer within that police beat can come and help.

As of March 22, nine Illinois residents have died of coronavirus and 1,049 cases have been reported in the state. The number of people tested in Illinois stands at 8,374.

The state is currently under a "stay-at-home" order through April 7, with all schools closed until at least April 8. California and New York are among the other states that have issued similar orders.
